Donkey owners from Meru County assemble in Meru town for clean up
Donkey owners and users from over 24 groups within Meru County assembled together in Meru town, where they spent the early part of the day cleaning up the town. The group that assembled at Gitumbine was accompanied by donkey owners and users from Nakuru County, who had come to support in the clean up.
The Meru donkey owners umbrella SACCO that was formed a few years ago was supported in the clean up by the Meru County government and the Meru police department who controlled traffic and provided security during the clean up procession. The event culminated in an afternoon session held at Gakoromone market, and was graced by His Excellency the Governor Peter Munya.
An annual event; the clean up is an initiative that seeks to create awareness on responsible donkey management and creating a clean environment.
