SANAT is one of the national animal traction networks affiliated to the Animal Traction Network for Eastern and Southern Africa (ATNESA), which is seeking to improve information exchange relating to animal power in the region. It publishes a regular newsletter and has a large number of publications and research reports available.
From 3rd to 7th November 2003, SANAT held a special workshop on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the formation of SANAT. It was held at the University of Fort Hare, Province of the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
On 14 November, 2001 at Hogsback, Eastern Cape, SANAT organised a One-day Forestry Workshop on "Empowering Small and Medium Scale Logging Contractors through Animal Traction".
In 1999, SANAT hosted the ATNESA workshop on "Empowering farmers with animal traction into the 21st century". The workshop was held at the Loskop Dam, Mpumalanga in South Africa from 21-26 September 1999. It was attended by 110 people from 25 different countries. The proceedings are available and copies can be ordered from SANAT via email (sanat@ufh.ac.za).
