KENDAT's Institutional arrangement

KENDAT operates under the advisory support of a Board of Directors. The KENDAT Board provides general policy guidelines related to Mission and scope as much as the running of affairs at KENDAT. The Board operates under the guidelines, expressly provided in the KENDAT constitution. The Constitution is registered with the NGO Bureau at the Office of the President. KENDAT is a registered and paid-up member of the NGO Council (Reg. No: OP.218/051/2005/072/3554).

In terms of project implementation, KENDAT has four pillars (download the chart for institutional arrangement using the link at the bottom of this page):-

  1. Animal Welfare and Utilization
  2. Natural Resource Management
  3. Agro-enterprise and Marketing
  4. Consultancy Unit

Management of KENDAT

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Pascal Kaumbutho who is the Secretary to the KENDAT Board of Directors has been conferred powers for overall management of the day-to-day affairs of KENDAT.

The KENDAT Mission is one to: Engage community groups in innovative development partnerships for self-emancipation processes towards unlocking their entrepreneurship and business potentials, to meet their development challenges.

The CEO provides overall guidance and ensures effective adherence to organizational mission, collaboration with the wider-KENDAT and other stakeholder projects and development efforts. The CEO is responsible for building collaboration and innovative partnerships. Considering the new development led by OIE for general animal welfare concerns, the project facilitated formation of a national animal welfare partnership during the year. This mainstream partnership has been dubbed the Animal Welfare Action Kenya (AWAKE).
